Walkala (Luis Alfredo Duarte-Herrera) completed his studies of law and social and political science at the National University of Columbia. He has lived in Salzburg since 1989.
In 1992 he set up YAGE in Austria, which is an association for Latin American Art, Science and Culture and he also founded the trilingual cultural magazine XICöATL “Ziehender Stern” (www.euroyage.com). In March 1995 the Commission for Artists (according §194, sec. 2 GS VG) of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Art, recognized his status as a freelance artist (design and painting) in Austria.
For YAGE and “Ziehender Stern” he made more than a thousand of ink drawings, wrote various articles and was the lead of several cultural projects, among other things in the field of literature, music and photography.
Since 1993 various exhibitions of Walkala took mainly place in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
